Remote hackathon: file format ID – 16th November 2012

Please join us for our first ever remote participation worldwide hackathon on the 16th November! We’re taking on the thorny issue of file format identification by initiating a number of strands of activity that we will work on across the timezones. There will be the opportunity to work on the tools, but also to contribute difficult ID test cases, and develop new file format signatures.

The idea for a remote hackathon was originally discussed on twitter with our curatecamp colleagues at Archivematica, and has since snowballed, with lots of enthusiasm from around the world to get involved. So if you’d like to contribute, sign up on the wiki page here, and look out for further announcements, planning and discussion as we get closer to the date.
