The OPF annual general meeting (AGM) took place on 8 June. The AGM was held online for the first time this year and we were pleased to welcome a record number of our members to the meeting. We began with a presentation of highlights and achievements from the past year, including new members and partners, product releases, the results of our Spring Hackathon, and our new website. We also heard from our Archives Interest Group, who have been studying significant properties of spreadsheets in order to select suitable format(s) for spreadsheet preservation.

During the official business, Barbara Sierman, formerly of the Koninklijke Bibliotheek, retired from the board after five years. Micky Lindlar, Technische Informationsbibliothek, retired by rotation and was unanimously reappointed by the members. We also welcomed two new directors to the board: Jeffrey van der Hoeven from the Koninklijke Bibliotheek and Yannick Grandcolas from the Bibliothèque nationale de France. 

Martin Wrigley, Executive Director of OPF said: 

“I’d like to thank Barbara for her dedication and leadership on the board. She will be greatly missed and we wish her well in her next endeavours.

We are pleased to welcome our two new directors, growing the board to eight and reflecting the growth of the Foundation. The board plays an important role in representing member needs and steering our future direction.”

In the second part of the meeting, we discussed how OPF is adapting to a changing world in light of the ongoing pandemic. We presented plans to address diversity in the community, the next steps for the OPF reference toolset and celebrated the contributions made to OPF with the launch of lifetime personal membership awards. Finally, there was an open forum for members to ask questions and put forward any other business.
