OPF was founded to ensure that the collaborative research and development work from the Planets project was sustained for the long term. We have continued to participate in open and collaborative initiatives that represent our members’ needs and are aligned with our strategic goals.

We’ve worked on a range of projects from large-scale EU-funded projects to fixed-term projects designed to solve a single problem. We also support innovation in digital preservation by providing shared infrastructure for collaboration and a sustainable home for project outputs.
